The Pulled Peg
The surveyor's chain above the cut was a link short at first light. One peg had been pulled and left in the spoil — still tagged, still the mark the theodolite had been sighted on.
Each row and column has numbers beside it. Those numbers tell you how many squares in that line need to be filled in. Two numbers in one line means two separate groups, with at least one empty square between them.
Tap a square to fill it in. Tap again to mark it empty. Fill every square the numbers call for and a picture of the evidence appears.
Four wrong taps and you lose the case.
